About Us

We are your ordinary, average latter-day hippie family. I was working on a master's degree in anthropology (I was researching the phenomenon of "attachment parenting" in the United States), when I decided I would rather be home full-time with our sweet smelling, kissable baby. Unfortunately, that's not a lucrative or even a paid career choice (though perhaps someday it will be!) and since people kept stopping me to ask about the playsilks I was making for my daughter, I thought a work-at-home business would be just the thing for our family. My husband became involved as we both learned more about mandalas...now he does all the tieing, and folding, & I do the prep & the dyeing itself. Having a WAHM&D business fits our desire to pull out of a commercial and economic system we both have big problems with, and it lets us realize our dream of being home with our young children, while they get to see what "creative work" looks like. Having a closet and playroom full of tie-dyed cotton and silk is just a wonderful bonus!
We do lots of business online year-round and during the warm months we are regular vendors at our local farmer's markets (see pics for what we looked like all set up to vend our first year!). We also do some traveling as a family selling tie-dye at music and craft festivals.
